The Unorthodox Epicure — Jolly Rancher (Frozen Watermelon Cocktail)

Quick! What’s your favorite Jolly Rancher candy?

According to various voting sites out there, Blue Raspberry wins hands down. Cherry tends to come in second. And then there’s my favorite — watermelon. Truth is, I prefer the tartness of watermelon-flavored Jolly Ranchers over the real thing.

This frozen concoction offers the best of both worlds. Real watermelon. And a Puckery-sweet tang.

  1. Yum!
I’m a fan of the sour apple myself.
This is one drink to try and share.
BTW. Up here in God’s country….
I’m sitting under a blanket which is under my grand-dog.
It’s a bit chilly up here, part of what we call “June gloom”.

I love the sour apple myself (I rimmed the glass with it). What would you think about freezing (green) applesauce, then blending it with some lime juice and perhaps even a little (white) grapefruit juice — for tang? Of course, you’d need some green food coloring if you want it to look like Jolly Rancher Green Apple. — It’s so much easier to buy the pucker liqueur and do it, but I like the idea of freezing/using real fruit. By the way, I’m totally jealous of your weather.
